Highway closed through Burlington, motorcycle driver injured

A motorcycle driver was injured in a crash on Shelburne Road in Burlington on Tuesday afternoon, and police closed the road for several hours.

The crash happened at about 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of Shelburne Road and Dorset Street. Police said the motorcyclist was traveling east on Shelburne Road when he collided with a westbound car.

The motorcyclist was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the car was not injured.

Road closure

Shelburne Road was closed between Dorset Street and North Avenue for several hours while police investigated the crash. The road reopened shortly before 4 p.m.

Investigation

The Burlington Police Department is investigating the crash. No further information was immediately available.
